Olives Et Al (the Promoter) has created Deli of the Year to promote business and raise the profile of nominated delis by engaging with both retailers and consumers to identify a retailer with a great deli attitude and an exceptional deli.
Eligibility: Olives Et Al’s Deli Of The Year is open to any retail outlet situated anywhere within the United Kingdom that offers delicatessen products in part of its overall operation.
All entrants are deemed to have read and accepted these terms and conditions by participating in Deli of the Year whether retail or consumer. Entry is only open to UK residents over the age of 18 at 1st Jan 2012.
Closing date and time for votes and nominations is midnight on 31st May 2011. Any nominations or votes submitted after the closing date of the promotion will not be considered. Proof that retailer entries have been posted will not be deemed to be proof of delivery or receipt.
Retailer participation in Deli of the Year is by nomination either by the Retailer or a Consumer on line at www.delioftheyear.co.uk. Full entry to the competition requires the postal submission of a completed ‘Deli Profile’ to the promoter by the closing date of 7th June 2012. Proof that retailer entries have been posted will not be deemed to be proof of delivery or receipt.
A ‘Deli Profile’ may only be submitted by post, not by email, online or by any other means. Retailers may submit additional materials to support their entry if they wish. Retailers must cover the cost of the postage and materials which constitute their entry. On the ‘Deli Profile’, the Retailer name and name of person responsible for submitting the entry should be clearly marked.
It is the Retailer’s responsibility to post any paper/card voting slips back to the promoter before the closing date and cover any associated costs.
Please be aware that, regrettably, the Promoter is unable to return paper voting slips, deli profile forms and/or any accompanying material after judging.
Olives Et Al’s Deli Of The Year competition is open to any retail outlet situated anywhere within the UK that offers delicatessen products as part of its overall operation and excludes employees of the Promoter, their families, agents and anyone else connected with this draw. Retailers do not have to stock the Promoter's products in order to enter Deli of the Year. Only one entry per retail outlet may be submitted.
Retail outlets at different locations must submit separate entries even if they are under the same overall ownership and/or management. One entry submitted for multiple retail outlets will not be accepted.
The winning retailer is not permitted to enter the competition in the following year.
Consumer entries can be made by submitting a nomination or vote on line at www.delioftheyear.co.uk or by passing an official voting card/slip back to the nominated deli to return to the Promoter. Only one vote per consumer is allowed. Any consumer found to be submitting more than one vote will be disqualified. Reasonable efforts will be made by the Promoter to prevent duplicate voting.
Any votes by consumers will only count towards part of the overall judging process for retailers for Deli of the Year. The total number of votes and content of consumer comments alone for any retailer will not determine the overall winner.
The draw for consumers is open to persons resident in the UK who wish to nominate and/or vote for a Deli of the Year, excluding employees of the Promoter, their families, agents and anyone else connected with this draw.
Closing date and time for votes and nominations is midnight on 31st May 2012. Any nominations or votes submitted after the closing date of the promotion will not be considered. Proof that retailer entries have been posted will not be deemed to be proof of delivery or receipt.
All consumers' votes will be entered into a random draw and will not be subject to a judging panel.
The prize for the winning consumer is a top notch foodie weekend trip for two people to Dorset during October 2012. Activities, accommodation and meals are provided, regrettably, travel is not.
The prize is non-transferable and there is no cash alternative.
The Promoter reserves the right to make its own relevant enquiries about nominated and/or entered retailers.
Any entrant, retail or consumer, giving any false or misleading information of any description will be disqualified and any prize won will be withdrawn.
The Promoter aims to contact customer nominated Retailers to confirm that they’d like to participate but this cannot be guaranteed.
‘Deli Profiles’, statement of ‘Deli Attitude’, recipes, top tips and supplementary documentation and photographs from the retailer, along with supporting statements from customers, will form part of the overall judging process and may be used for marketing and/or publicity purposes by the Promoter.
Participating delis may be visited as part of the overall judging process without prior notice.
The judges reserve the right to decline to award regional prizes if in their opinion there are insufficient entries of a winning standard.
The Promoter and/or judges reserve the right to decide the regional boundaries or transfer a nomination or vote from one region to another if deemed appropriate and without prior notice to entrants (retailer or consumer).
The Promoter accepts no responsibility for ‘Deli Profiles’, nominations or votes which are delayed, corrupted, lost/mislaid or otherwise rendered invalid, under the sole discretion of the Promoter, owing to technical errors or malfunctions.
The copyright of all materials assembled by the Promoter, as organisers, will remain the property of the organiser and may be used for the purpose of publicising the award and the award winners.
All entrants must agree to publicity in respect to their entry both before and after the Deli of the Year winners are announced.
Two retailer entrants will each win a 3 day trip for two to Spain in October 2012. The prize includes return economy flights to Spain, transfers between the airport in Spain and the hotel, accommodation and food. The prize does not include travel to and from the airport in the UK, travel insurance, personal expenditure and incidental costs other than those stated. It is the responsibility of the winners to ensure they have a valid passport and travel insurance and obtain any necessary vaccinations and visas for their trip. If the winners are unable to meet these criteria there is no cash alternative.
10 regional Retail winners will receive an Olives Et Al range pack.
The Promoter reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to withdraw or amend this promotion in the event of any unforeseen circumstances outside its reasonable control with no liability to any entrants, winners or any third party.
The Promoter reserves the right to award an alternative prize of equal or greater value, should the advertised prize become unavailable for any reason.

The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence on their decision will be entered into. By signing up and submitting an entry for the award the retailer agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions without prior notice; any changes will be published on www.delioftheyear.co.uk and will be available on request in printed format from the Promoter.
The Deli of the Year award winner will be encouraged to state in advertising/promotional activity and on their stationery that they are the winner of The Olives Et Al’s Deli of the Year Award but this must include the year in which the award was won.
By entering the competition, all entrants (retail or consumer) will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the rules and consent to the transfer of their personal data to the Promoter for the purposes of the administration of the draw and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.
